Located in the heart of downtown St. Paul, Minnesota, Capitol Dental Center is proud to serve the oral healthcare needs of patients in the Twin Cities and surrounding suburbs. We adhere to office standards that only allow for excellence while you are in our care.
Our staff is committed to continuing education in order to offer you the most up-to-date treatments for all of your dental needs. We attend classes, seminars and lectures to stay atop of the dental industry standards of care and learn about the latest equipment, technology and products to offer you the best treatment possible.
Your safety is our number one concern. To protect our patients, we maintain a strict sterilization regimen and cross contamination process using standards set forth by the ADA (American Dental Association), the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the Center for Disease Control (CDC). We welcome any questions you may have regarding the sterilization techniques used in our office.
Dr. Michael Schafhauser was born in Fort Worth, Texas and raised in Roseville, Minnesota. A Minnesota boy through and through, he attended the University of Minnesota where he earned his B.A. in Psychology in 1975. He continued his education and earned his D.D.S. from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry in 1979. He has been practicing dentistry in the heart of St. Paul ever since.
In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Susan, and their three daughters- Carrie, Emily and Alison. Skiing, fishing and woodworking are a few of his hobbies, and getting away for a weekend at his Cabin in northwestern Wisconsin is always a welcome respite for him.
Dr. Schafhauser strongly believes in the importance of giving back to the community. He participates in the national Donated Dental Service program, offering free dental work for qualifying patients with extenuating circumstances. And, if need be, patients can be seen by him at St. John's Hospital, where he is a dentist on staff.
Outside of his community work, Dr. Schafhauser is active in numerous professional dental organizations aimed at continuing his education and enhancing the level of care he provides. He is a former President and current member of the Minnesota Dental Association (MDA), a current member of the American Dental Association (ADA), an active member of the St. Paul District Dental Society (SPDDS) and a clinical instructor at the University of Minnesota. He is also a member of the Pierre Fauchard Academy, an Inductee into the American College of Dentists and the College of Dentistry International.
